By The Cleveland Barons, 11/14/17, 2:15PM EST

Give Back This Holiday Season!

This Holiday Season, the Cleveland Barons will be giving back to the community in a number of ways. We have different philanthropy efforts that our program will be partaking in as a program and we need all the help that we can get!

  • Holiday Meals on Wheels Volunteer Opportunity - Thanksgiving Day the Goebel Family will be preparing meals for delivery throughout the area. Each holiday it seems the meals that are being prepared and boxed has grown and for this year alone, for Thanksgiving it will be close to 16,000 meals. For those that have participated in the past - THANK YOU! For those that have’s very simple. WE NEED VOLUNTEERS...all family members can participate, regardless of age. This year 160 volunteers will be needed! The event takes place at Barons Arena in Parma on Thanksgiving morning between 7:00am and 7:30am. The volleyball area will be set up as an assembly line process of boxing meals and getting them ready for delivery. As many meals as this may seem, it has never taken more than 2 -3 hours to complete, still giving your family holiday time. If you are available and would like to donate some of your time to help others on this holiday please e-mail me the # of volunteers. This event will be held again on Christmas and Easter so if you are unavailable there will be other opportunities coming up!

  • Holiday Partnership with OHP Cares - This year’s Holiday OHP Cares Event is right around the corner! We are partnering with Ohio Hockey Project this season for their event! In partnership with Ohio Guidestone, as well as host Pro Sports Performance, our program willl be helping in sponsoring nearly 50 families this Holiday season. So what can we do as a program?

    • We will be collecting new, unwrapped gifts starting this week at OBM Arena in Strongsville, through the last week in November. If you cannot make it to OBM Arena, there will be a collection site at Barons Arena on November 22nd and November 24th from 8:00am-2:00pm during the Thanksgiving Skills Sessions run by Ohio Hockey Project.
    • If you would like to contribute but cannot arrange for a drop-off at either location please contact us at and we can make arrangements!
    • On December 3rd, there will be a gift wrapping party at Pro Sports Performance (11985 Prospect Road, Strongsville, OH 44149) from 5:00pm – 8:00pm. All our welcome and encouraged to attend!

This holiday season, we encourage everyone to give back somehow. Whether it’s donating clothes or toys, feeding the homeless, or even offering love and support to those in need, we encourage you to do something. There’s really no feeling better than the feeling you get when you give someone something to be happy about during the holidays. The people that you help will never forget it, and neither will you. So this season if we can partner together to give back, we hope to make the Holidays a whole lot brighter for some local families in need!
